I was struggling to make my stock Axial SCX10 TR more capable specially in terms of smooth torque while climbing & going down steep descends, more like wishing for the real Land Rover Defender's Torque and Hill Descend Control ;-). Below, you'll read more about what I installed and the complete configuration I did. But first, I shall let you know how it behaves after all the upgrades :)

Now its time to tell you how I did it....

So I made some changes to my Axial SCX10 TR stock setup and ordered some new upgrades like Novak 2S Goat Crawler ESC and Novak sensored sintered brushless Crawler motor as well as the latest Futaba 4PL radio system .

My Axial SCX10 TR Setup

• ESC: Novak 2S Goat Crawler ESC
• Motor: Novak Sintered Brushless Crawler Motor
• Pinion: 20T
• Spur: Stock
• CoG: Lowered
• Wheels: Stock
• Tires: Proline 1.9 Flat Iron
• Radio: Futaba 4PL
  • • 3 position switch to control Hill Descend Control (HDC)
    • rotatory control to increase / decrease HDC %age
    • push button switch to toggle HDC direction
    • DT1 to control Steering trims
    • DT2 to control Throttle trims
• Battery: MaxAmps' 5250 7.4v 60C LiPo
• Connectors: Castle Creations 6.5mm Bullet Connectors (rated 200amps)
• Rest: all stock

I will also do a video tutorial for the radio setup with SCX10 to use Hill Descend Control in your kits using Futaba 4PL. For the moment this should be enough to get you starting.
