Best pinion gear / Spur gear selection for Traxxas Slash 4X4 can be done by considering following ways

Running On Road

While you run traxxas slash 4X4 on a road you should know that it would be a high bite surface where you may mostly run in straight lines and some corners. You would need to have significant top speed and appropriate acceleration to have food cornering but not too much that you flip over. Considering this, I normally use a 19T pinion with a 52T spur gear using a 2S LiPo battery pack with atleast 35C continuous discharge rate.

Running Off road

For off road track you need as much acceleration as you can get with appropriate top speed. You need good cornering and stability in high air jumps. Keep 14T pinion gear and 54T spur gear.
